GOWRAN PARK REPORT

Joseph strikes Gold again at Gowran

- By RYAN MCELLIGOTT

JOSEPH O’BRIEN maintained his red hot form with a double at Gowran yesterday and he could have a nice prospect on his hands in Inca Gold.

This Galileo gelding was making his debut in what looked quite a warm novice hurdle but he made light of his 25/1 starting price.

J.J. Slevin made the running on this former Ballydoyle inmate and his rivals could never find a way past.

On his first start since April 2017, Inca Gold showed a fine attitude to see his off his stablemate Entoucas.

“He’d a few runs on the Flat but it was his first run over hurdles. He’s always jumped well and he’s bowled along there and they haven’t come and got him,” said O’brien. “The second horse (Entoucas) was a little bit keen and fresh but I’d say he has a big engine and we’re really looking forward to him in the future.”

The winning trainer was earlier successful with the Mark Walsh-ridden Ballyneety, who returned from 11 months off to run out a half length winner of a useful looking maiden hurdle.

O’brien added: “It’s his first run over hurdles and only his second ever run so I’d imagine he’ll learn a lot from today. Mark was very happy with him and said he’d come on from the run.”
