Tottenham end Sarri’s long run

-

Spurs 3 Chelsea 1

MAURIZIO SARRI tore into his Chelsea stars and labelled their defending “a disaster”.

The Blues boss refused to pull any punches as he assessed his side’s first Premier League defeat of the season to Tottenham.

Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Son Heung-min put Spurs on cruise control before Olivier Giroud’s consolation.

Sarri said: “It was a disaster, the defensive phase of the team.

“But I am not talking about the defensive line, the offensive players pressed very badly, the midfielders defended poorly, and the defensive line, as a consequence, was a disaster.”

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino said: “I don’t need to talk very much because the players talked on the pitch and they deserve the credit.”

And Alli, who scored the first goal, thought they should have won by more.

He said: “We wanted to be on the front foot, we created lots of chances, and we would have scored a lot more if we’d been more clinical.”
