Meghan upset Kate THE Duchess of Cambridge’s mum Carole Middleton has given her first ever interview, opening up about her ambition and her daughter’s childhood.
Carole, 63, revealed she set up her party supplies firm when Kate, 36, was young as she wanted to be more than just a mum.
She said: “I had this strong feeling that I hadn’t achieved anything. I got married at 25, had Catherine at 26.” The future royal also modelled for her Party Pieces catalogue, she told the Telegraph.
The daughter of a painter and decorator, Carole said she left school at 16 to work on the shop floor at John Lewis – but found it “boring”.
Melissa Toubati, 39, mysteriously handed in her notice after just six months with the Duchess of Sussex.
Now the reason she left her plum job in such a hurry can be revealed.
A source said: “Her job was highly pressurised and in the end it became too much. She put up with quite a lot. Meghan put a lot of demands on her and it ended up with her in tears.
“She is hugely talented and played a pivotal role in the success of the royal wedding.
“She’ll be missed by everyone in the household. Melissa is a total professional and fantastic at her job, but things came to a head and it was easier for them both to go their separate ways.”
News of the reason for her resignation comes amid a series of reports about 37-year-old Meghan’s unconventional treatment of royal staff.
Yesterday it emerged she kicked up a stink ahead of her marriage to Prince Harry by demanding air fresheners in Windsor Castle.
The ex-suits star was reportedly unhappy at the “musty” smell in St Actress Ayda George’s Chapel – but courtiers said no. Other sources have suggested Meghan has been dictatorial, often emailing staff requests at 5am. It’s also been claimed her head-on approach even led to a fall-out with her sister-in-law, the Duchess of Cambridge. When she quit as Meghan’s PA, a palace source was authorised to praise her and the role she played organising May’s royal wedding. The run-up to it was detailed by royal biographer Robert Jobson in Charles At Seventy. He claimed Meghan’s wedding preparations were so stressful Harry got ‘petulant’ with staff.
