BLUES AND ROYLE

- BY JOHN RICHARDSON

JOE ROYLE is hoping Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will be drowning his sorrows after today’s Merseyside derby.

Everton legend Royle, 69, is back in football working for his executive chairman son Darren at Championship club Wigan, helping boss Paul Cook with recruitment.

Cook is a rabid Reds fan and with another Blues title winner, Peter Reid, on the staff it has proved an interesting week.

Royle, who along with Klopp is a resident of upmarket Formby, near Southport, said: “Cookie will be crowing if the wrong result happens and Liverpool win.

“Believe me, Reidy and I will give it to him if it goes the other way.

“Jurgen has done a smashing job.

“Every time I see him I smile.

“I hear from friends who live in Formby that the local community have really taken to him.

“He is often spotted having a pint and a chat.”
