Man killed in horror crash after car and lorry collide

A MAN has died after a road crash early yesterday morning.

A car and a lorry collided on the N25 at Bawnard in Ardmore, Co Waterford, at around 4.30am.

The victim, who was in his 20s, was the sole occupant of the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The lorry driver, a man in his 40s, was taken to University Hospital Waterford with non-life threatenin­g injuries.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigat­ors attended the scene and the stretch of road was closed for much of the day with local diversions in place.

A Garda spokeswoma­n said: “Witnesses who may have driven on the N25 between 4am and 5am from Youghal bridge to Dungarvan, and who may have dash cams are asked to contact Dungarvan Garda station.”

Meanwhile, three people were hurt after a vehicle crashed into a parked car in the early hours of yesterday.

The incident happened on the R354 road in Claregalwa­y, Co Galway, at around 12.50am.

Two female passengers and the driver of the vehicle were all brought to hospital with non-life threatenin­g injuries.

A Garda spokeswoma­n appealed for witnesses.
