Charities tax refund boost

CHARITIES can claim VAT relief for the first time from next month, it has been confirmed.

Fianna Fail’s Michael Mcgrath TD welcomed news that the tax break will be up and running in the New Year.

He urged charities who qualify to avail of the scheme, which was revealed in a parliamentary question by Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe.

An initial fund of €5million will be available to be refunded in 2019.
