Minister hits out over RTE politics hack
A GOVERNMENT Minister said she is “very disappointed and annoyed” over RTE’S decision to replace Martina Fitzgerald as political correspondent.
Mary Mitchell O’connor posted a message on Twitter yesterday reacting to the news.
The Dail reporter will now be replaced by Paul Cunningham.
Ms O’connor said “one of the most high profile women in media” had been “taken out”, describing Ms Fitzgerald as a “professional to her finger tips”.
A spokesperson for the broadcaster said Ms Fitzgerald will continue working for RTE News.
Under a deal agreed by RTE unions, correspondence positions are reviewed every five years.
