More girls hit by loneliness

Young women are more likely to experience loneliness, says the Office for National Statistics.

About 11 per cent of all those aged 10 to 24 often felt lonely, the study found, with a further 34 per cent sometimes suffering the feeling.

More girls than boys said they had experienced loneliness.
