Barca star Vidal warns Spurs they won’t hold back

- BY CHRIS HATHERALL

reserving strength or holding anything back.

“We will be the same Barca as always – with a very clear goal that we want to win the game.”

Vidal accepts that Barca manager Ernesto Valverde could make changes, but knows it will make absolutely no difference to the desire.

“The reality is that, as a group, Barcelona wants to win every single trophy this season. It’s a special challenge that we have set ourselves.

“To do that we have to keep winning games and keep the right mentality.

“So will be it be a case of Barcelona relaxed and with many changes against Tottenham? I don’t think so.

“This team has an image, a way of playing and it’s present in every single game. That’s our focus.”

And Vidal acknowledges that Tottenham – with so much to play for after beating PSV Eindhoven and Inter Milan in their last two games at Wembley – will be tough opponents. Spurs currently sit second in Group B, on the same points as Inter, who face PSV at home in their final group game.

It means a victory in the Nou Camp will send Harry Kane & Co through – and even a draw might be enough.

“Tottenham, like all English clubs, are difficult to play against and we know it won’t be easy,” added Vidal.

“They have a great team. We won 4-2 in London, but the game was not easy, and we know they will come here trying to win. They have to.

“Everyone talks about the threat of Kane in attack, but they have good players in every area.

“You have to remember they have a world-champion goalkeeper in Hugo Lloris and international players from all over the world, too.

“They are one of the best teams in England and Kane is one of the best strikers in the world. So we have to be ready. I can promise – we will be.”
