Swans scared by Bees

- By ROBERT DUNFORD at Griffin Park

SWANSEA manager Graham Potter admitted he did not feel secure after his side almost let a three-goal lead slip.

The Welsh side looked home and dry after just 27 minutes, but were almost pegged back.

Potter said “We were quite clinical in that first half-hour, but Brentford is one of those places where you never feel comfortable.

“Their team kept going and waited for an opportunity – and they got them.”

Swansea led after just 25 seconds when Wayne Routledge tapped in a cross by Barrie Mckay.

An own-goal by Chris Mepham doubled the lead on 22 minutes after a low cross by Nathan Dyer. The Swans looked to be leaving with all points a few minutes later after Leroy Fer got a touch to a bicycle kick from Oliver Mcburnie.

But the Bees had hope when Ollie Watkins was in the right place to convert a loose ball and it became even more uncomfortable for the visitors on 69 minutes, when Said Benrahma struck the target with a superb free-kick.

There was almost drama very late on when sub Sergi Canos hit the bar for Brentford.

Head coach Thomas Frank said: “We were a goal down after 30 seconds and you are thinking, ‘What horror movie am I in?’.”
