F4 racer Billy glad of coma
RACING driver Billy Monger has said he is glad he was in a coma so did not have tell surgeons to amputate his legs.
Billy, 19, lost his lower legs after a Formula 4 crash in April 2017. He said: “The fact that I just woke up and it was done helped.”
Billy has returned to motor racing and will receive the Helen Rollason Award for achievement in adversity at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
It is on BBC1 from 7pm tonight.
