Appeal to help hurt pool diver

-

A BACKPACKER who broke her neck in Thailand urgently needs €100,000 to fly her home.

Sophie Wilson, 24, was injured when she dived into a bar’s swimming pool as she pursued her “lifelong dream” to travel the world.

It is unclear if she will ever walk again but her family are trying to raise the money for her continued care and for a specialist flight home with a doctor and two nurses on board. Travel insurance company Insure and Go has said it would not cover costs as the accident on December 1 was the result of “reckless behaviour”.

Sophie, from Leicestershire, is being treated at a hospital in Chiang Mai where she has undergone 10 hours of surgery.

Her sister Georgina Wilson said: “She wouldn’t intentionally do anything to hurt herself.”
