Fears as dinghy man vanishes

-

CONCERN is growing for an expat British sailor believed to be lost at sea after vanishing in the Caribbean.

Merseysider Roy Boughton, 72, was last seen boarding a dinghy at the Rodney Bay Marina in St Lucia on November 19.

He had been drinking with other sailors in a bar and was said to have fallen on a pavement before being helped on to his dinghy. Reports suggest the motor was fired up and that Roy left – believed to be heading to one of two yachts which he normally docked in the open bay.

St Lucia Police said: “He owns two yachts. Both were searched but no blood or signs of distress were found. Searches have also been done from the air.”

Roy wrote a blog in which he said his love for boats dates back to 1962 when he left school to work in Liverpool docks.

His interests are listed as “boats, science fiction, girls and travel”.
