THE cast of Call the Midwife took an extra special break while filming their Christmas special – to see a co-star get hitched in France.

Victoria Yeates – TV nun Sister Winifred – wed musician Paul Housden, 39, at a 13th century chateaux in the Pyrenees.

They were joined by famous friends from the BBC1 drama, where Victoria stars alongside the likes of Jenny Agutter, Judy Parfitt, Helen George and Cliff Parisi.

Thrilled Victoria, 35, said: “Loads of the cast came and nipped over between filming.

“After the ceremony we all ate outside by this river on the grounds.

“It was quite hippy, simple and all very chilled out.”

The celebration in June was two years after she and Paul got engaged in South Africa – as cast filmed the 2016 Christmas episode. And it came as Victoria shot her final scenes before leaving Call the Midwife after five years. The festive episode sees Mother Superior taken ill,

while newcomer Miriam Margolyes – Sister Mildred – turns up with a group of Chinese orphans seeking adoption in the UK.

Victoria adds: “Miriam is fabulous. You never know what is going to come out of her mouth! She’s really fun and very generous of spirit. All the younger actors would sit around and ask her questions about her career.

“You do pinch yourself when you look around and realise how many great people are on the show.

SPECIAL

“I’ll email Jenny Agutter and think ‘Wow, it’s Jenny Agutter!’ It’s been incredible to be on a set surrounded by loads of incredible women.

“I will miss all the people. It’s a great feeling waking up and wanting to go to work every day because your friends are all there. It’s very special.”

The 2017 festive episode was seen by 9.6million and this year’s special is tipped to match that.

But Victoria is used to big audiences – having just starred as wizard’s aide Bunty in hit movie Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.

Call the Midwife is on BBC1 at 7.45pm, Christmas Day.
