Pupil coach stowaway from Sudan

- BY JIM HARDY

St John’s Academy PUPILS arriving home from a ski strip to France were stunned when a stowaway from Sudan climbed out of their coach’s luggage compartment.

The 29-year-old had no idea where he was when the party arrived back at St John’s Academy in Marlborough, Wilts.

A waiting parent was a special constable and held the illegal immigrant, who got on the coach at Calais, until police arrived.

St John’s principal Ian Tucker assured parents there were “no unpleasant scenes” with pupils and staff all safe.

Police said the man was “calm and compliant” and had been handed to immigration authorities.

The pupils had been on a nine-day trip to Alpe D’huez in the French Alps. Timpson store
