Sponge offers chemo hope

-

Scientists could have found a way to make cancer chemotherapy less harmful to the body.

They are testing a tiny sponge which sits inside a vein and removes any excess chemo drugs after treatment.

The work, published in the journal ACS Central Science, could stave off side effects such as hair loss and nausea.

It has so far only been tested on pigs.
