Hornets fancy a Cornet

WATFORD are ready to make a club record £25million offer to land Lyon’s highly rated winger Maxwel Cornet.

Boss Javi Gracia is keen to build on a good start to the season by strengthening his squad during this transfer window.

The Ivorian winger (above) has caught the eye for Lyon this season and caused Premier League champions Manchester City problems in the Champions League.

Lyon don’t want to lose Cornet, who is under contract until 2021, but cannot compete with the wages the Hornets will be able to offer him.

Cornet, who came through the Lyon youth system, is frustrated at what he views as a lack of playing time this season, which has seen him make only 12 appearances.
