KANE: I WANT GAFFER TO STAY AND BUILD DYNASTY
HARRY KANE wants Mauricio Pochettino to stay and build a dynasty at Tottenham.
Pochettino has transformed Spurs into title contenders since joining the club in 2014.
And Manchester United chiefs will break the bank to bring him to Old Trafford in the summer.
But England captain Kane believes Pochettino (above, right) is on the brink of big things in north London.
Kane (left) said: “We are fully behind the manager. We love the way he works.
“We’ve built a great team and a great unit over the last three or four years.
“It’s down to us to continue that and take another step forward.
“We are still in all the competitions. It’s about turning that into a trophy.
“He has a great personal- ity. He’s a great manager, but he’s a great guy off the pitch as well.
“He treats you like a friend, but he earns that respect from you.
“He’s great to talk to, but, most importantly, he is a great coach and we all want to play for him.”
And Spurs’ upturn has coincided with a dramatic fall from grace for Manchester United since Ferguson left Old Trafford in 2013.
Ahead of today’s clash at Wembley, Pochettino’s men sit 10 points above their visitors.
Spurs were comfortable 3-0 winners when the two sides met earlier this season.
But the Red Devils are a different proposition since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho around three weeks ago. Spurs have lost just one of their last eight games in all competitions and have their tails up after beating Chelsea 1-0 in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semifinal on Tuesday.
Kane scored the goal in midweek and says Spurs are no longer the whipping boys they once were for the big clubs. He said: “Over the last few years we have turned that around.
“We were always the ones going into these games as the underdog and now some of these games we are going into as favourites, especially at home.
“United will come and try to play with a lot of energy because they haven’t played in midweek, and we have to make sure we match that.
“When we match their intensity, keep the ball and make it hard for them, that’s when we can do damage.”
And Kane admits it will be “a bit strange” going head-tohead with his England pals in the Manchester United line-up after everything they have achieved together on international duty.
Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford (left, with Kane) and Ashley Young were key men alongside Kane, Dele Alli, Kieran Trippier, Danny Rose and Eric Dier as the Three Lions reached the World Cup semi-finals and this summer’s UEFA Nations League Finals.
Kane said: “It’s always a bit strange. We had a great summer, a great Nations League so far.
“But our mode is club football at the moment.
“When we go back to international football, we then get together and get behind each other.
“Gareth Southgate has done great with that.”
