PROP FORWARD HEALY NEVER LOOKING BACK
Wasps v Leinster 3.15pm
LOOKING back is not in Cian Healy’s DNA – but he does it to drive him forward.
There are times when it’s not a necessity.
While he could make it to the 10 year anniversary shindig this summer for Leinster’s first Heineken Cup triumph, Healy is unlikely to attend
The Ireland prop is getting married a week later and the idea of a fortnight of festivities with the World Cup to come not long after isn’t on his agenda.
“I might need a bit of sun before the wedding,” Healy quipped. “The wedding falls a week before we’re back in camp and I don’t really want to go in not rested after a couple of weeks on the booze if that was the case.
“I’d imagine a reunion like that, we’re not going to be sipping tea!”
Exhibit B is that the 10-year anniversary of Leinster’s loss to today’s opponents Wasps came earlier this week – when the fast emerging Healy came on as a dub at Twickenham.
“News to me,” the Clontarf man exclaimed. “I park that stuff. I don’t remember it. Gone.
“I don’t look back to last year, let alone 10 years ago. I’ve developed a thing of not holding things emotionally like that at all.”
The priority now for Leinster is a victory at the Ricoh Arena today to secure a home quarter final.
“They’re low on points, but the possibility of failure is a huge driver, especially for them. The possibility of being beat at home, it’s massive,” said Healy.
