Netflix and chilling ...in a different way
Serial killer Bundy’s shocking tapes revealed in docu-series
was executed in the electric chair at Florida State Prison in 1989 to the cheers of a crowd of 2,000 outside.
His highly-televised 1979 murder trials in Miami became a spectacle as the charismatic killer represented himself and won over a legion of
Ted Bundy adoring female fans. Yet the American assaulted, kidnapped and murdered several young women in the 1970s. He confessed to 30 homicides in seven states between 1974 to 1978. But the confession came shortly before his execution after decades of denials and the true figure is believed to be as high as 100. Bundy was regarded as handsome and would typically approach women in public places, feigning injury before overpowering and abducting them. He brutally killed them at secluded locations then revisited the crime scene to perform sex acts on their dead bodies. He decapitated at least 12 of his victims. The four-part Netflix series is not for the faint-hearted. As if the subject matter wasn’t disturbing enough Bundy narrates his crimes and his techniques himself. Show creator Joe Berlinger said: “He taps into our most primal fear – that you don’t know, and can’t trust, the person sleeping next to you. “People want to think those who do evil are easily identifiable. Bundy tells us those who do evil are those who are often people we know and trust the most.” Watch all four episodes – if you dare – on Netflix now. news@irishmirror.ie
