War gong for great granny
Kath gets her medal A GREAT gran who failed to collect a medal she won in the Second World War has finally been awarded it.
Kathleen Blower, 96, always believed “only men got them for fighting”.
But granddaughter Lisa Davidson found the former Wren, who ran naval stores in Portsmouth was due a service medal.
Royal Navy Commander Ben Keith presented it to Mrs Blower at her care home. She said: “I am very pleased and proud.” Andrew Baker
