160kmh chase at car tragedy site
GARDAI have arrested a driver after a 160kmh pursuit in the same area where four friends lost their lives following a horrific crash less than a month ago.
Officers pursued a Saab car after it failed to stop in Gortahork, Co Donegal. The car sped through a number of townlands and other gardai joined the pursuit.
When stopped the driver had a number of passengers on board late on Thursday evening.
A Garda spokesman said: “The driver had no regard for his own safety, his passengers or the local community. Thankfully, no other road users were put in danger. With the assistance of other patrol units we were able to apprehend the car and arrest the driver.”
Gardai arrested a man and he has been charged with dangerous driving and not having insurance.
