Prince Philip signature up for auction
PRINCE Philip’s signature from a naval log book is expected to sell for £100 later this week.
He checked the details and authorised them when in command of HMS Magpie in 1950.
The book belonged to an engineer and listed repairs and servicing, showing weekly and monthly checks.
It is signed in ink “Philip,” and will be sold by International Autograph Auctions in Nottingham on Thursday.
Auctioneer Richard Davie said: “It is an unusual vintage fountain pen ink signature.
“It was signed over a stamp showing that he was the commander.”
Philip had married Elizabeth three years earlier, before she became Queen.
