Cop that – bid to beat the bailiff biters

- BY SCARLET HOWES

From pitbulls FORMER police dog handlers are being recruited to keep bailiffs safe from debtors’ pit bulls.

The desperate measure emerged in a job advert for Animal Control Officers on a police website.

Ex-dog handlers are needed “to attend addresses working alongside property repossession companies, warrant enforcement officers and court bailiffs… so they can carry out their work safely.”

Figures show almost three million people across the UK are in debt with bailiff-related problems. There are around 200,000 dog attacks every year.

A source said: “Enforcement officers bravely face down all sorts of situations, but the spread of these dogs has created a new challenge.”
