Factory killer ‘stress’ over being laid off

- BY KAREN ROCKETT

A MAN who shot dead five workmates and wounded five cops was “stressed out” at losing his job, it emerged last night.

The gunman, named by police as 45-year-old Gary Martin, had been told he was being “terminated” before his rampage.

Martin ran amok on Friday at a US firm that makes pipe valves, where he had worked for 15 years.

After killing colleagues with a handgun he began firing at police as they arrived at the Henry Pratt factory in Aurora, Illinois.

He was shot dead after a 90-minute siege which ended with him trying to hide.

Survivor John Probstn said: “A guy came from the office and said there was a person shooting. He was bleeding pretty bad.”
