Apex Legends Windows, PS4 and Xbox

This mish-mash of first person shooters is best described as a cross between Halo and Fortnite.

Players can select one of several heroes whose unique abilities range from Attack or Defence to Support or Recon.

Squads are made up of three different heroes on the same side and there are up to 20 teams in total on each map.

As with all battle royales, you start off with no weapons and get dropped from the air to a random spawn point.

The aim of the game is to scour the map for weapons, ammo and bonus equipment while fighting to be the last team standing in a map that’s getting smaller by the second.

Even though the free-to-play battle royale game is entering a crowded genre, Apex Legends stands alone, mainly thanks to its smoothly rendering graphics and a slick non-verbal communication system.
