‘SMILE OR GO’

- BY TOM HOPKINSON

EDEN HAZARD and Co need a manager who’ll put a smile back on their faces.

That’s the view of former Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit, who said: “We’ve seen so many tactical managers at Chelsea recently — Italians on top of that — and, if Sarri leaves, Chelsea need joy.

“They need someone who can inspire joy in the dressing room. With Sarri, he never seems to smile. Antonio Conte was the same and Jose Mourinho as well.

“I’m thinking, ‘Would you be able to bring some joy into the dressing room?’.

“When I looked at the Chelsea team against Manchester City, they looked so sad before the game.

“I can tell the difference between somebody who is unhappy and someone who is concentrating... so I think back to what Sarri said about not knowing how to motivate his team.”
