Pep hails incredible Newport
through goals by Leroy Sane and Phil Foden before Newport’s £750-a-week journeymen Padraig Amond hit back.
But the grandstand finish came from the visitors, with Foden scoring again and Riyad Mahrez firing the fourth in injury-time.
Newport boss Michael Flynn said: “I am proud of my players – they were absolutely outstanding.
“The only disappointing thing is the two late goals we conceded after we had scored. At that stage we had something to hang on to. We wanted to put in a good finish, but then City scored two more.
“There are so many good memories to take from this Cup run – not just for the football club, but for the fans who have started coming to games.”
Flynn was also full of praise for Guardiola.
He added: “The respect and class City have shown since they arrived is great.
“Guardiola invited the players into his dressing room. He is such a classy manager and football club.
“I’m an ambitious boss. I’d love to take Newport up now we have tasted this.
“You want more – and I definitely want more.”
