WALLACE CUP WINNER WILL HELP MILLWALL TO CASH IN

COMETH the hour, cometh the man.

Murray Wallace scored the winning goal for the second round in a row as Millwall overcame gritty League One strugglers Wimbledon to reach the last eight.

The tills will be ringing for the Championsh­ip club in the coming weeks as the Lions clawed their way into a third quarter-final in seven years... and their second in the past two seasons.

Wallace, who scored a 94th-minute winner against Everton in the previous round, headed home in the fifth minute – just after Joe Pigott had struck a post for the Dons.

Millwall boss Neil Harris said: “You are talking to a very happy manager tonight. It was a hard battle, Wimbledon never gave up but I thought in the end we deserved it.

“This is big for the club, huge financiall­y. We won’t see the benefits until the summer but it will allow us to move forward.

“I am so pleased for Murray. He’s a solid guy, gives his all, leaves no stone unturned and leads a decent life. We might not be one of the biggest teams around but we’ve got big hearts. That is why we are in this position.

“I don’t care who we get next as long as it’s at home in front of our 20,000 fans, but let’s enjoy this moment.”
