Return of the Mac..

Dazzle like Hepburn in iconic trench

- DEMELZA DE BURCA with

EVER since Audrey Hepburn’s Holly Golightly wore a Burberry trench in Breakfast At Tiffany’s the fashion world has been obsessed with Macs.

Almost 60 years later and the movie’s iconic creations still inspire our wardrobes, especially at this time of year.

Hepburn’s classic trench coat is the ultimate between-seasons outerwear but there were plenty of modern reinventions on offer on the SS19 catwalks.

A pleated number was paraded at A.W.A.K.E while Eudon Choi created a bus red piece.

JW Anderson delivered two trench coats – one beige, one black – both with heavily ballooned sleeves and checked lapels, while Simone Rocha designed a romantic rendition, all translucent cream and lilac gauze.

Riccardo Tisci’s debut Burberry collection had 12 iterations in varying styles, from its signature check to contrast piping.

You can’t go wrong with a traditional spring shower trench and with temperatures set to hit 16C this weekend, the transitional season staple is the cool cover-up your wardrobe needs.

Get the Audrey look with the vast array of belted trench coats on offer at & Other Stories and Zara.

And Topshop trumps with their gorgeous burnt orange creation, perfect for putting a spring in your step.
