Rogers family to pick up their massive winnings at red carpet bash
THE €175million Lotto syndicate will pop Champagne at a massive party when they pick up their winnings next week, the Irish Sunday Mirror reveals today.
The Rogers siblings are to pose with their monster cheque once money from the eight other Euromillions countries arrives at Dublin’s National Lottery HQ.
A family friend revealed: “There is a huge red carpet shindig planned.
“This is gonna be a Lotto party like Ireland has never seen before.”
THE €175million family syndicate are to hold a “Lotto party like Ireland has never seen before” when they collect their jackpot on Friday.
The Rogers siblings will pop the Champagne and share their good news with the nation.
Money from the eight other countries involved in Euromillions including France, Spain and the UK is due to be transferred to the National Lottery by Thursday.
A close family friend revealed: “There is a huge red carpet shindig planned.
“It’s going to be Champagne all day long for them.
“This is going to be a Lotto party like Ireland has never seen before.”
Chiefs at the National Lottery offices in Dublin’s Abbey Street are believed to be pulling out all the stops as the winners of the biggest jackpot ever scooped in Ireland pick up their cheque.
Scenes will rival the memorable celebrations in July 2005 when cleaner Dolores Mcnamara pocketed a then record €115million.
The family friend said: “They will pose with the big cheque and officially go public on Friday.
“All nine winners and their children and grandchildren will be there. It’s going to be one hell of a day for them.
“They haven’t gone out drinking, there have been no parties. At the moment they are getting all their legal and financial advice. A lot of this will be in place by Friday and they’ll have a better idea of what to do with their millions.”
Earlier this week the Irish Mirror told how the level-headed winners had tea and sandwiches as they met with Lotto representatives in Dublin last week.
The siblings are planning to go ahead with a cheap and cheerful package holiday to the Mediterranean booked before their win.
But the family – who are originally from the Naul in North Co Dublin, with many living in Duleek and Bellewstown, Co Meath – have no plans for lavish spending.
One of the siblings, May Whearty, was spotted last week coming out of her home but kept tightlipped to reporters.
Financial guru Eoin Mcgee reckons they stand to earn more than €500,000 in interest every month just by sticking the monster pile of cash in the bank.
The syndicate has only six members, but they agreed to share their €175million jackpot with their three other siblings, meaning they will each pocket a cool €19.4million.
Meanwhile, one lucky punter scooped last night’s €10million Lotto jackpot.
The National Lottery has not yet confirmed what part of the country the lucky ticket was sold.
