Van was burnt out by killers Remains are taken away by gardai House where the shooting took place they were watching his movements for some time beforehand and knew his routine and what he was up to.

“There were a number of cars involved, up to three.

“There were the two which were found burned out in Buirg an Ri Glen and the Paddocks and then a possible third which they used to make their final getaway in.

“They burnt the van out very soon after the murder and then quickly moved on in a Toyota which they also torched. They didn’t want to leave any evidence.

“Even the semi-automatic gun and silencer that was found beside the burned out van shows how much preparation went into it.

“They knew the route and had obviously done a few dummy runs. They were taking no chances.”

Gardai have said it is too early to speculate on a motive but one theory is the victim may have been involved in the murder of Mark ‘The Guinea Pig’ Desmond.

But it is believed it is most likely a local dispute and has nothing to do with the ongoing bloody Hutch-kinahan feud.

Another theory is he fell foul of a wellknown criminal in Co Kildare.

He was a one-time target of the Criminal Assets Bureau and paid them Mark ‘The Guinea Pig’ Desmond €160,000 in a settlement. The source added: “One line of interest is he had fallen foul of a major criminal down in Co Kildare.

“He also felt so threatened by the gang boss Mark ‘The Guinea Pig’ Desmond he left the country at one stage, so there’s also the belief it could be connected to that. “Despite him being dead now it could be one of his associates.”

Lynch was also involved in a number of businesses before his murder and is believed to have been a drug dealer who worked below the Garda radar.

A spokesman for the force said on Friday: “Shortly after the initial call a Peugeot Partner type van was found on fire at Buirg an Ri Glen, Clondalkin.

“At 2.30pm a silver Toyota Corolla was found on fire at The Paddocks Rise in Lucan.”
