Jack Lamb, 25, has battled PTSD since taking a bullet in the face in Afghanistan six years ago.

It took a 13-hour operation to save his life and three years in recovery.

“I was one of the best bombfinders in the army,” says Jack, shown left as a soldier and with the VW Golf where he keeps his things. “I came into the real world with no real skills and severe brain damage.”

The ex-rifleman, from Jarrow, Tyne and Wear, is living on benefits and says the army did not help him adjust to a normal working life.

He now hopes to train with a specialist company so he can carry out humanitarian work helping to clear minefields in former war zones.
