THE BUFFALO’S BEEF IS A HUGE PLUS: GOLDSON

- BY SCOTT MCDERMOTT

CONNOR GOLDSON had doubts about Alfredo Morelos when he clocked the size of his BUM at Rangers’ pre-season camp.

But now the Ibrox defender believes the Colombian’s backside is one of his biggest assets.

Goldson says he’s never played with or against anyone in his career quite like the Buffalo.

He believes Morelos is a one-off – a pest of a striker who must be a nightmare for Premiership centre-backs.

And with a goal tally of 28 and counting, Goldson insists the 22-year-old will pick up every Player of the Year gong going at the end of the campaign.

Morelos has been a revelation this term under gaffer Steven Gerrard.

And since he first clapped eyes on him in Mijas last summer, Goldson says the frontman has taken his game to a new level.

The former Brighton man is an awe of Morelos’ physical attributes – including his bulky rear-end.

Morelos has already twice been sent off against Aberdeen this season and as Goldson prepared for today’s Scottish Cup clash between the sides at Pittodrie, he said: “You wouldn’t like to play against Alfredo.

“He’s a pest for 90 minutes. He’ll wear you down with his physicality and put himself about. But he’s been brilliant for us this season and all credit to him.

“From the boy I saw in Spain when I first arrived at the club to what he’s turned into – he’s a completely different player.

“That’s down to how hard he’s worked and it’s paid off for him. He’s the best player in the country now – his record speaks for itself. “Alfredo’s missed a fair few games but he’s scored 28 goals by the end of February. Not many strikers could do that.

“He’s proven game after game that he’s up there with the best.

“And I can’t compare him with anyone I’ve played with or against even down in England. Alfredo’s one of a kind.

“He’s such a naturally strong boy and is getting stronger. And he’s not in the gym lifting weights.

“You look at the size of his legs, his bum, it’s huge. He has the frame of a grown man but he’s just turned 22.

“When I first came in, you could see he’d had a good summer!

“But to be fair to him, he’s worked his socks off and got rid of a lot of weight. Now, he puts in so much work for the team during 90 minutes.

“He’s done that now for 40-odd games and that’s down to how he’s looked after himself.”
