Ole’s all-out attack policy to rescue tie

-

OLE Gunnar Solskjaer has promised to ensure that Manchester United won’t crash out of the Champions League with a whimper. United trail Paris Saintgermain 2-0 after losing the last-16 first leg at Old Trafford and have been written off as no-hopers. But less than three months from the 20th anniversary of United’s spectacular Treble-clinching 1999 Euro win against Bayern Munich in Barcelona after Solskjaer’s last-gasp winner, he’s ready for more late drama. Solskjaer said: “We’re not going to go out without a fight. We’re still in it – we can’t write games off,” said the United caretaker boss. “We have been fantastic away from home but have a few injuries and suspensions.

“But we have to go there and give it a go – to make it a game with loads of goals in it. We would rather win 4-2 than try to get a 2-0.

“If it’s tight at half-time anything can happen in the second half. I know we can score a goal and make it chaotic for the last 20 minutes.”

Solskjaer is confident in-form centre-half Victor Lindelof can play a huge role and said: “The players go into away games now knowing we can defend well.

“We have pace on the counter and hopefully we can take that to Paris because we will be playing against top-class players.

“We know we can’t go gung-ho so we will have to approach the game in a very clever way.

“Victor has been a big plus since he came in. His performances have really improved. He’s been playing more on the left-hand side but he started really well on the right side with Phil Jones on his left.

“Now Chris Smalling has come in and done really well.”
