It follows Dr Leah, who has always prided herself on her academic integrity and is quick to accuse undergradu­ate Rose for submitting a suspicious­ly brilliant essay.

It starts a war between the women as Rose retaliates and Leah becomes consumed with trying to expose her student as a cheat.

Windsor, who won a Bafta for Best Actress for her role in Three Girls, said it becomes clear as the drama builds that both women have miscalcula­ted. She added: “I Dr Sandra Lee aging” and another with a horn growing on her head. Dr Lee’s enthusiasm is infectious – but it’s not a job for the faint-hearted, and certainly not to be watched on a full stomach. think at the start both characters underestim­ate each other and think they’ve worked out the other one.

“Rose is a student and a very intelligen­t young woman.

“She is a bit of an outsider at university and observes everything going on around her. “She thinks she knows who Leah is and believes she can play with her a bit.

“There’s this power struggle between them. But they are quite similar. It’s a complex relationsh­ip that changes throughout the series.” As their feud spills over into their personal lives, the women come face-to-face one final time and are forced to reconcile with the truth.

Cheat begins on UTV tomorrow at 9pm. It starts on Virgin Media One on March 18 at 9pm.
