Appeal after thugs throw dogs from moving car

- BY AENGUS O’HANLON

Layla & puppies DOGS Trust has issued a heartfelt appeal for help after a dog and her three pups were flung from a moving vehicle.

The charity is looking for donations to help fund its work rescuing unwanted and badly treated pooches across Dublin and beyond.

The organisation highlighted the story of Layla and her pups, one of which sadly died from its injuries, in the horrific incident in the capital.

It said: “A man driving by saw it happen and called us.

“Our staff were shocked but focused on giving Layla and her pups Luke and Lily all the attention, love and veterinary care they could.

“We need to be ready for the next call we get. Will you make a donation and help us save more dogs like Layla?”

Separately, the charity has reminded dog owners not to give their pets chocolate this Easter.

They are warning the public there is a substance found in the treat that could potentially kill dogs.

Vet Desre Daly said: “While chocolate is a sweet treat that humans can enjoy, it is something dogs should never have.

“It is the theobromine, a substance found in chocolate, that can be toxic to dogs.”
