Players face abuse after racism stand
Chris Smalling SOCCER players joining in a campaign against racism in football have been targeted with online abuse – for backing the protest.
The #Enough campaign included a 24-hour boycott of social media to urge sites to tackle offenders.
But the Professional Footballers’ Association, which organised the action, said some players had been subjected to racist abuse after changing their profile image or posting the #Enough logo.
They said: “Some received racist abuse on their #Enough posts. The response from social networks was unacceptable.”
Among those backing the drive was Manutd’s Chris Smalling, who got abuse on Twitter over their Champions League defeat in Barcelona this week. EX-KGB spy Alex
