UK silent on bid to catch Putin ‘killers’

- BY ALAN SELBY

THE UK Foreign Office has refused to reveal if they are still trying to catch Alexander Litvinenko’s killers.

Andrei Lugovoi and Dmitry Kovtun are the main suspects for the lethal radioactive poisoning of former KGB spy Alexander Litvinenko in London 13 years ago.

Lugovoi is now a millionaire businessman, TV personality, as well as a politician in President Putin’s Russia.

Kovtun is also a successful businessman.

The UK Foreign Office said this week it could neither confirm nor deny how much cash had so far been spent trying to bring the pair to justice.

It said the public’s right to know was outweighed by relations between the UK and Russia.
