Scaffolder Fay’s going up in the world

- BY KEITH PERRY

WHO says a woman can’t make it in a man’s world? Fay Parker is rising all the way to the top as a scaffolder.

The 29-year-old is one of just six qualified female scaffolders in the UK.

And she is working on one of the most high profile restoration jobs in the world as she helps revamp the clock tower housing London’s Big Ben, where the scaffolding is 90 metres tall.

Fay, of access firm PHD Group, said: “It would be great to see more women entering the trade. I love my job.

“It’s amazing to work on somewhere like Big Ben – and it means I stay fit while my mates have to go to the gym.”
