My mother the serial killer must never be allowed out

DENNEHY GIRL APOLOGISES TO VICTIMS

-

Shianne, aged 2, with mum Dennehy posing with a huge knife partner John Treanor deteriorated. With her behaviour becoming increasingly erratic John, now 42, took the couple’s two children away and moved to Glossop, Derbys, in 2009.

Shianne was nine at the time and had not seen her mum for four years when she heard she was a killer.

She had been at a sleepover with pals when her father phoned saying: “Your mum has killed someone.” Shianne was banned from using the internet by her dad as details of the murders were laid bare in court. But she secretly googled the case and was horrified when she discovered the true extent of her mum’s crimes. The news sent Shianne into a downward spiral of depression and she was forced to move schools when her pals found out what happened. She spent her teenage years completely “in the dark” until she was able to confront her mum. But now, after meeting her mum in Shianne at seaside with her mother jail, she has turned her life around and vowed never to end up like her. Shianne, who completed a travel and tourism course last year, first made contact with Denehhy in October and held an emotional meeting at HMP Bronzefield, Surrey.

She said: “I wrote her a letter. I was really cold because I thought she hated me. I told her I wasn’t looking for a relationship Baby Shianne & parents but I wanted to know why. But I got a letter full of love and warmth and how much she wanted to have me in her life. I just cried, it was so emotional.” Reliving the first meeting, she said: “We sat opposite each other at a table. “She looked completely different. She’s got short blond hair and piercings on her face, one next to her eye. “In all honesty I never thought I’d see her again. I’d mourned her after she went. “Then we saw each other and we both just cried. “But nothing will ever justify what she has done, I hate what she did.” dan.warburton@ mirror.co.uk
