AGAINST DRUG GANGS VIOLENCE

to have helped in the abduction and killing.

Up to 40 people on both sides of the Drogheda feud have been warned their lives are in danger as gardai remain on high alert for revenge attacks.

A leading member of the faction linked to the murdered teen is thought to have fled the country.

Detectives continue to carry out

something missing that this reality is not making its way up the political agenda.

“I travel the country giving talks and I hear from people in the most remote areas that are in such fear from what is happening.

“Drug misuse is a huge issue in our society and it’s only getting worse.”

Mr Lonergan, who worked for 42 searches in the Drogheda area as they attempt to build a case against the chief suspects.

Last week, they issued an appeal for information about Keane’s last movements.

They are also eager for information on the movements of a blue Volvo S40 bearing false registration plates 141 MO 1925 in which his body parts were discovered. The teenager’s head and

years in the prison service, told how he has never seen such a level of brutality as in recent weeks.

He warned: “People have gone over the top and have lost the run of themselves in relation to violence.

“There is a gradual decline in terms of respect and humanity.”

Mr Lonergan added young offenders need a “serious wake-up call”.

Fergus O’dowd, Brendan Howlin, Ged Nash and Micheal Martin hands were understood to have been in the burned out car found abandoned in a lane off Clonliffe Avenue close to Crope Park last Wednesday.

His severed limbs had been dumped from a moving car two nights earlier close to Moatview Gardens in Coolock.

Senior sources told the Irish Sunday Mirror that footsoldiers from both sides of the warring Drogheda gangs are running for cover for fear of being targeted.

The thugs, who have been working for the criminal outfits carrying out petrol bombings and acts of intimidation on their rivals, have fled following the brutal murder.

According to a source, many “naive wannabe gangsters” have realised they could meet the same fate and want no part of it. The source said: “A lot of these young thugs were very naive getting involved with these individuals. “They had obviously watched one too many episodes of Love/hate and believed that it was a life of glamour, girls, money and power. “It was only when Mulready-keane, who was the same age of them, was murdered in such a horrific way that they realised who they were really involved with. “A lot of the young footsoldiers who would have carried out acts of violence on rivals, including petrol bombing their houses, now realise they are disposable.” news@irishmirror.ie
