A MAN is critical and a woman is seriously injured after a horror knife attack in the early hours of yesterday.

A male in his 20s was arrested and was last night being questioned about the double stabbing at a house on Snowdrop Walk in Darndale, North Dublin, at around 7.30am.

The victims, aged in their 40s and 50s, were taken to Beaumont Hospital following the incident.

The male was fighting for his life last night and his condition has been described as critical.

Meanwhile, the woman was recovering from serious but nonlife-threatening injuries.

Gardai said they are not looking for anyone else in relation to the attack and the arrested man was known to the victims.

A source told the Irish Sunday Mirror: “There doesn’t appear to have been a party involving a lot of people at the house but rather a few family members who had gathered. The reasons behind the attack are not yet known.” A Garda spokesman said: “Gardai are investigating a serious assault that occurred at a house in the Darndale area of Dublin on June 13 at approximately 7.30am. A man and a woman, aged in their 40s and 50s respectively, both received stab wounds.

“They have been taken to Beaumont Hospital. The man’s condition is described as critical and the woman’s injuries are understood to be serious but non-life-threatening.

“The scene is currently preserved for a Garda technical examination.

“A man, aged in his 20s, was arrested at the scene and is detained at Coolock Garda station. Gardai are not seeking any other persons in relation to this incident. Investigations are ongoing.”
