BAYERN CAN NOW WIN TITLE NEXT WEEK

- By TOM HOPKINSON @tomhopkinson

BAYERN MUNICH need just one more win to secure their eighth successive Bundesliga crown after beating Borussia Monchengladbach 2-1.

Joshua Zirkzee gave Hansi Flick’s side the lead shortly before the half-hour mark after keeper Yann Sommer dropped a huge clanger.

The Swiss had just made a fine save to deny Lucas Hernandez, but he shanked a clearance straight to the Dutchman and he fired home.

Bayern were ahead for only 10 minutes before Patrick Herrmann’s low cross was turned into his own goal by Benjamin Pavard.

But Pavard made amends with a cross after sloppy defending by the visitors and Leon Goretzka turned home from close range with just four minutes of normal time on the clock.

Dortmund boss Lucien Favre (below, bottom) injured a calf celebrating Erling Haaland’s late, late winner at Fortuna Dusseldorf.

Substitute Haaland (below) struck after 96 minutes to keep Dortmund’s faint title hopes alive.

The visitors never really found their groove and survived a couple of scares, most notably when Raphael Gurreiro’s volley was ruled out for handball.

Fortuna twice hit a post as well, both times through Steven Skrzybski, first in the 82nd minute and then right at the end of normal time.

They looked like they were about to pick up a valuable point in their battle to beat the drop – but Haaland had the last laugh.

The Norwegian rose highest to meet Manuel Akanji’s cross and planted his header firmly past keeper Florian Kastenmeier.

Fortuna’s relegation rivals Werder Bremen did their own bid to stay up plenty of good with a 5-1 thumping of bottom club Paderborn.

Fortuna remain in 16th, the relegation play-off position, but only now on goal difference from Bremen.

Cologne lost 2-1 at home to Union Berlin, Wolfsburg drew 2-2 with Freiburg and Eintracht Frankfurt won 4-1 at Hertha Berlin.
