SIX additional people have died from Covid-19, the Department of Health announced last night.

There have now been a total of 1,734 Covid-19 related deaths in Ireland.

A further 23 cases of coronavirus have also been confirmed – 10 of them young adults – bringing the total to 25,437.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan warned young adults they are also susceptible to the disease.

He said: “High levels of compliance to public health advice to date has enabled further reopening of economic and social life.

“However, of the 23 cases reported today, 10 cases (43%) are in younger adults aged under 35 years.

“A further eight cases (35%) are aged between 35-54.

“This is now a real concern and a worrying trend at a time when many people are reconnecting with friends and loved ones and may be gathering in larger groups.”

Dr Holohan warned that following health guidelines is crucial to stop the spread.

He said: “I cannot emphasise enough how important it is to remain informed and keep two metres from others.”

FOOTBALLER Andre Gray is being probed by his club for reportedly breaching lockdown rules by throwing a party.

The Watford striker is said to have had around 20 guests at his home for his 29th birthday bash on Friday. Gray got engaged to Little Mix star Leigh-anne Pinnock, 28, last month but it is not known if she was there.

Ed Corrigan calls and appointments continuing to flood in. He told the Irish Sunday Mirror: “We went live with our bookings about two and a half weeks ago and when we put a link on to our web page it went absolutely mental.

“It’s just crazy. We seat about 120 and then another 40 outside so with working with the hour and half slots we are booked up for around nine days now already.

“Even today when I was out the front of the pub around 14 people walked up and asked if we were open.”

And Sophie’s in Dublin has already been inundated with bookings ahead of Monday’s phase three reopening. General manager Ed Corrigan said: “We are completely booked out for the first week of opening with the other weeks filling up nicely.”

And Kennys, of Lucan in South Dublin, also are expecting a busy opening with most days of the opening week already fully booked. A spokesperson said:

Peader Browns, of Clanbrassil Street in Dublin, has been “inundated with a thousand bookings” as the cozy Liberties boozer prepares to open again to the public. Manager Aidan Brown said
