ELAINE CROWLEY

Read her hilarious column!

-

I READ somewhere that plants are the new pets, pets are the new kids, and kids are the new exotic animals.

You need to be crazy rich, or just plain crazy to have them.

Ah they’re hilarious little creatures. I’ve been regaled with stories about their antics over the last year from viewers and people I know.

I’ve 23 nieces and nephews – another one on the way – and boy am I glad I’m not in lockdown with any of them.

Take yesterday for example. Got a call from my little brother. Well he’s actually 6ft 6in so little isn’t really the word.

Anyway, in our family if we need everyone to know something he’s the man so his recent radio silence was quite odd.

I got to the bottom of the mystery after a little chat with his son Fintan.

He’s a boisterous little boy, with a love for Spiderman, and the hulk, and a recent fascination with WWE.

Turns out that during a wrestling match, “Finty bwoke Daddies nose”.

I believe it was a knee to the face. “Bwood evwewhere Aunite Nainsey”. No wonder he went into hiding. The shame of being beaten up by a three-year old.

Speaking of which, take a minute to sympathise with Lucy.

The poor thing got the snip last week – Lucy is my nephew’s puppy – not a human.

Normally an outdoor dog, she was a bit traumatised after the surgery so needed a bit of TLC.

The vet said to keep her indoors for a night or two.

My heart melted when my sister sent me the below photograph.

Poor Lucy was all lonely and couldn’t climb the stairs so she was carried up to bed by Ruairi – the nephew – which wasn’t an easy task.

As you can see, she runs to the more sturdy end of the spectrum, much like most of the Crowley girls.

And if you think that is puppy love, you ain’t seen nothing yet.

We’re all missing parties and celebrations, but that didn’t stop my niece Aisling from throwing a massive birthday bash,

But not for her, it’s for her rescue Nahla.

Yes Lady Nahla is two years old today, and it’s a feast worthy of a canine Kardashian.

The house is decorated, doggie cakes have been baked.

I have to admit I’m a bit jealous… they even have matching tiaras…

As for the plants, I just checked on mine there.

I think they’re on the way out.

I may need something with less maintenance. Like a stone.
