PETIT TO HAVE TOO MOUCH FOR HIS RIVALS

- BY RYAN MCELLIGOTT

THE admirable Petit Mouchoir can register his first success in three and a half years in the Baroneracing.com Hurdle at Cork this afternoon.

This conditions event isn’t the most valuable of prestigious event on the card but it is an interesting affair and it offers the likeable grey a good chance to regain the winning thread.

Formerly a Grade 1 winner and still capable of running well at this level, Petit Mouchoir ran a huge race under a big weight to take second in the County Hurdle at Cheltenham.

If he turns up in anything like the same form he will surely take beating here and Jordan Gainford’s seven pound claim will also help his cause.

Petit Mouchoir’s trainer Denise Foster might also land the beginner’s chase with The Very Man.

He was a decent hurdler at his best and his recent chasing debut at Leopardstown was quite encouraging.

Elsewhere on the card Crossed My Mind can repeat his 2019 success in the valuable Grade B handicap hurdle.

He has been in excellent form over fences this season and shouldn’t have any trouble switching back to the smaller obstacles.

The Grade 3 chase has attracted a disappointing turn out and Spyglass Hill is taken to strike for Henry de Bromhead.

He hasn’t quite reached the heights he looked like doing last season but he is a useful sort and looks good enough to take care of these rivals.

Ya Ya Baby ran a nice race at Navan last time and should looks good enough to land the opening four-year-old maiden hurdle.
