GARDAI probing the shocking death of a mum of two stabbed in front of her four-year-old son have launched a murder inquiry.

Jenni Poole, 24, died after she was attacked at her home in Finglas, Dublin, around 2pm yesterday.

A man in his 20s, known to the victim, jumped from a balcony and a male suspect was later arrested. One neighbour said: “She was a lovely girl, a great mother.”

NEIGHBOURS of a beautiful bubbly mum-of-two were reeling from shock yesterday after she was stabbed to death in her home.

Jenni Poole was attacked at her apartment in Melville Drive, Finglas, north Dublin, at around 2pm on Saturday.

Emergency services took the young mum to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown where she died a short time later.

It is understood her young son was in the flat at the time and may have witnessed the knife attack.

Ms Poole, 24, lived with her two children, her son aged four and a daughter aged eight, on the first floor of a duplex building. A man, believed to be known to the victim, was allegedly in the apartment and jumped from the balcony. A male suspect was apprehended a short time later.

A neighbour told the Irish Mirror: “It’s absolutely a sin it is, two young kids, for her son to witness it.

“It’s a great area, [she was] a great mother, going to school with her kids, normal day-to-day life, wasn’t trouble.

“She was a lovely girl, all for her kids.”

Gardai confirmed they have arrested a man in his 20s in connection with the attack and he is being held at Finglas Garda Station.

It is not known who raised the alarm but neighbours may have heard a distrubance coming from the victim’s home.

A shocked local said residents there were mostly young families.

“You’d never see untoward behaviour or anything that would make you think I wouldn’t want my kids going out after dark,” he said.

Another shocked neighbour added: “God love her she was so young, she was a lovely girl and had everything going for her.

“I heard all the cops. The whole place was packed with about 20 squad cars and ambulances.

“She was a very good looking girl, very bubbly, always out with the kids. .

“The kids were always well looked after, two beautiful children - faces like angels.”

The Garda are appealing in particular to anyone who was in the Melville Drive area of Finglas yesterday, between 1.30pm and 2.30pm, to come forward.
