Irish are the hottest between the cheats

- BY CHRIS RICHES

IRELAND’S adulterers are the world’s most active, says a survey by dating app Ashley Madison.

One in five marriage cheats here claim to have sex with their illicit lover every single day – which puts us tops for frisky affairs.

Germany came second with 13% admitting to cheating every day, Columbia third (8%), France fourth (6 %) and the UK fifth with 5%.

The global research into sex flings also reveals that men who discover their partner is a love cheat are more willing to forgive the affair than women.

The extramarital dating app revealed that most people catching their partner or spouse playing away would forgive them.

But their data found women less likely to turn a blind eye when their partner strays. In total 85% of female members had been forgiven for a past affair – compared to 80% of philandering men.

Explaining the difference, psychotherapist Lucy Beresford said: “When faced with the idea of cheating, men concentrate on what happened physically.

“Woman on the other hand are more interested in the emotional impact.

“The fact men appear to be more forgiving could also be because men and women tend to process their responses to infidelity differently.

“Men are much more interested in knowing about the physical aspects of an affair and find it hard to forgive when sex is actually involved.

“Whereas women are much more affected when they believe there has been an emotional connection to the affair.”
