Matt injury hell for Hull

-

By STEVE JUDGE at Loftus Road

A SECOND battling away point of the week for Hull was overshadowed by a serious head injury to Matt Ingram.

The Tigers keeper was knocked unconscious and carried off on a stretcher following a 55th-minute collision with QPR’S Albert Adomah.

Ingram required 11 minutes of treatment (right) before he was taken straight to hospital.

Hull boss Shota Arveladze said: “Matt lost control of his body in the collision and landed on the back side of his head, without the support of his hands.

“Immediately, he was gone and people were running. You could see how long it took to bring him round.

“Thanks to God that he is back and safe, and there are no worries.”

Ingram’s departure saw 19-year-old keeper Harvey Cartwright come on for his senior debut, with the visitors leading through a 26th-minute Marcus Forss strike.

Callum Elder’s corner found Alfie Jones and his header dropped on the edge of the six-yard box. Brentford loanee Forss reacted quickest and his half-volley hit the underside of the bar and bounced just over the line for his first Tigers goal.

It was no more than the visitors deserved, although Forss was lucky to only receive a yellow card when he appeared to kick out at Jimmy Dunne just before half-time.

Hull had held Sheffield United to a 0-0 draw in midweek and Ilias Chair’s low, left-footed strike on 14 minutes – which Ingram palmed away – was QPR’S best effort of the first half. But the hosts picked up the pace after the break and it was no surprise Chair was the man to hit their leveller.

Sub Moses Odubajo swung in a 75th-minute cross from the left and the unmarked Chair swept the ball home from six yards.

Rangers thought they’d snatched the points midway through the 15 minutes of injury time.

Adomah put the ball in the net from a deflected Chris Willock shot but he was controversially flagged offside.

It meant it is now four games without a win for fourth-placed Rangers.

Hoops boss Mark Warburton said: “After two lacklustre displays, we needed that performance in the second half. “They scored from a set-piece. Teams are going to drop points so, for us, that may be a very important point.”
